MINNEAPOLIS – Though spring training plans have not officially been implemented, awaiting Major League Baseball’s approval, the Twins do plan to have at least some fans at Target Field for their home opener, which is scheduled for Thursday, April 8.
Twins President Dave St. Peter said, “We’re pushing forward so that we can reintroduce fans in Fort Myers (Fla.), as well as in Minnesota, for the start of the season. We don’t take that for granted, but we’re hoping that will be approved by Major League Baseball, and more importantly the State of Minnesota and the Department of Health. But we’re working toward that if conditions allow.”
St. Peter also expressed that all of baseball absolutely does not want to, as he put it, “jump the line” for COVID-19 vaccinations, instead possibly encouraging those who may be skeptical about the vaccine to take the shot when it is available.
