Pierre residents looking for large chunks of wood to cut down into useful pieces have the opportunity to get some, for free, starting tomorrow (Jan. 22).
Finance officer Twila Hight says beginning at 8am (Fri.), the public is invited to take the cut wood, which will be located near the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Cemetery Road.
Hight says any wood remaining after Tuesday (Jan. 26) will be taken to the City’s Baling Facility Material Site.
Pierre recently cleared the trees from a natural drainage ditch on the east side of town near Riverside Cemetery and the state Women’s Prison. The trees were causing erosion that was leading to underground utility damage.
