WATERTOWN – Aberdeen Roncalli followed a semifinal upset of St. Thomas More with a win over conference rival Hamlin Saturday, 48-31 in the Class A Girls state championship game at the Watertown Civic Arena. Roncalli (23-2), who will move to Class B, next season, won the first championship in the history of the girls program.
Morgan Fielder scored 15 points for the Cavaliers in their first win over Hamlin since 2013. Olivia Hanson scored 10.
Kami Wadsworth led Hamlin (22-3) with 13 points.
3rd Place: Winner (22-3) 54, St. Thomas More (21-3) 51
Ellie Brozik banked in a floater with 22 seconds left for the winning points for the Warriors. Bella Swedlund led Winner with 24 points and 10 rebounds, hitting five three-pointers. Maggie LaCompte scored 11 and Brozik had 10.
