MINNEAPOLIS – A source told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that the Minnesota Vikings do not plan to tender restricted free agent tight end Chad Beebe but still want to re-sign him.
Beebe caught 20 passes for 201 yards in 2020, his third season with the Vikings, and made $750,000.
The lowest tender amount that can be given to a restricted free agent is $2.133 million, and any team could potentially match an offer. For the Vikings to receive any compensation if another team were to match an offer, they would have to tender over $3.3 million.
Also, sources confirmed that linebacker Anthony Barr is finalizing a restructured deal that would save the Vikings $2.9 million in salary cap space. In exchange for that, Barr would become a free agent after 2022, voiding the last two years of his deal. Barr is a seven-year player and has made the Pro Bowl four times.
