BROOKINGS – Elliot Leif of the Oahe Capitals was named to the South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association All-State First Team. One of his linemates, Raef Briggs, was named to the second team.
Leif, a senior, led the league in assists (31) and points (58) during the regular season, adding three goals and four assists at the state tournament. Briggs, also a senior, was fourth in the league in goals (24) and third in points (34).
Briggs was also named to the All-Academic team, along with Cord Ellis, Andy Gordon, Isaac Polak and Chris Schultz.
Gordon was named as the Capitals’ winner of the Hobey Baker Award, defined by the SDAHA for “character, commitment, persistence, selflessness, academic excellence and sportsmanship.”
