ABERDEEN – Joe Sayler hit two free throws with 4.2 seconds left Saturday to give White River a 74-72 win over Lower Brule in the fifth-place game of the SDHSAA Boys Basketball Class B State Tournament at the Barnett Center’s Wachs Arena at Northern State University.
Sayler led White River (19-6) with 26 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Dylan Marshall scored 18 with eight rebounds and six assists. Colbe Scott scored 12.
Gavin Thigh scored 17 for Lower Brule (17-8). Shane Grey Owl added 15 points. Keshaume Thigh tallied 14 points and 13 rebounds. Brian LaRoche Jr. had 11 points, but missed a potential game-winning three-pointer at the final buzzer.
