FORT MYERS, FL – Nelson Cruz had a sixth-inning RBI single Saturday to lead the Minnesota Twins to a 2-1 spring training win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Hammond Stadium.
Kyle Garlick had tied the game for Minnesota (7-10-1) with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Kenta Maeda, who is scheduled to start for the Twins on Opening Day, allowed a run for the first time this spring but also struck out six in five and a third innings.
Minnesota will play Baltimore Sunday in Sarasota, Florida.
