FORT MYERS, FL – Sources confirmed to multiple media outlets Sunday that pitcher Randy Dobnak and the Minnesota Twins have agreed to a $9.25 million contract extension, with team options for the 2026, ’27 and ’28 seasons. This deal pends Dobnak passing a physical and had not been officially announced by the Twins as of Sunday.
Dobnak has a 3.12 ERA in 19 major league appearances spanning the last two season. He had a 4.05 ERA last season in 10 starts. Dobnak, who has a greatly improved slider, will start this season in the bullpen, but manager Rocco Baldelli has indicated that Dobnak will again be used as a starter as needed.
In a spring training game Sunday, the Twins lost to Boston 8-3 at Jet Blue Park. José Berríos allowed three runs and seven hits in four and a third innings with four strikeouts. Josh Donaldson and Kyle Garlick drove in runs for Minnesota (10-15-1).
The Twins will face Pittsburgh Monday in Bradenton, Florida.
