VERMILLION – South Dakota Men’s Basketball has added sophomore guard Erik Oliver to the Coyotes’ 2021-22 roster.
Oliver led Laramie County Community College in scoring last season at 20.9 points per game while making 49.6 percent of his field goals and 44.4 percent of his three-pointers. In his freshman season, Oliver averaged 19.8 points a game and scored 51 in one game to set a program record.
Oliver also played high school basketball in Cheyenne, Wyoming, scoring 1,789 points for Cheyenne East and leaving as the program’s all-time leading scorer. He was Wyoming’s Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year in his senior year. He was a three-time all-state and all-conference selection.
USD Head Coach Todd Lee said, “Erik’s ability to score at all three levels is what jumped out to our staff right away. He’s a strong guard who is exceptional when getting to his left hand. Erik makes great decisions with the ball in his hand and we expect him to make an immediate impact on our program.”
Oliver enters USD with three years of eligibility remaining.
