Fort Pierre sets June 7 date for public hearing on medical marijuana ordinance; Approves temporary malt beverage license for June 3 First Thursday event

With only two items on the agenda– medical marijuana and malt beverages– a special Fort Pierre City Council meeting at noon today (May 20) took about five minutes.

City finance officer Roxanne Heezen says they’ll hold a public hearing on a proposed Medical Cannabis Ordinance at their June 7 meeting.

Mayor Gloria Hanson explains why there’s a short timeline to establish an ordinance.

Also at today’s meeting, the Fort Pierre City Council approved giving American Legion Post 20 a temporary malt beverage license to use at the June 3 First Thursday event.
