PIERRE – Maybe there is no place like home.
For the Pierre Trappers, who have struggled this season, especially on the road, Hyde Stadium was a friendly place Wednesday night. The Trappers scored in six of eight innings and scored a season-high in runs in a 20-8 win over the Western Nebraska Pioneers.
Cole Yancey had two doubles and four RBI for the Trappers. Brendon Perez had a two-run homer and also drove in four runs. Jared Shelton had a grand-slam to cap a seven-run eighth inning. Jacob Griffin had three hits and three RBI. Every Pierre position player had at least a hit and a run scored. Eight of the ten who batted drove in runs.
Adrian Lopez (2-4) benefitted from all the run support, pitching six innings.
