The 4th Annual Trader Days kick off this evening (Aug.13) and goes through Sunday evening at Fischers Lilly Park and downtown Deadwood Street in Fort Pierre.
Organizing committee member Callie Iverson says this year there’s a mix of new activities, activities brought back from many years ago and the usual favorites.
Iverson says the parade with a kazoo band is at 10:30 tomorrow morning.
She says there’s musical entertainment all three days.
The Verendrye Museum’s Backyard BBQ Competition fundraiser is also back again– with more than 60 teams participating! It’ll be Saturday from 4-6pm. People’s choice sampling is $20 and starts at 3pm and goes until 4:30pm. At 5pm, the public can buy a $10 ticket for a brisket and beans meal.
The Verendrye Museum Board supports five local historical sites– the Verendrye Museum, the Log Cabin Visitor Center, the Stanley County Jail, Sansarc Country School Museum and the Fort Pierre Depot.
People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, so you can relax and enjoy the activities.
