Fort Pierre and parts of Stanley County were without power for about an hour this evening (Aug. 17, 2021) after a main power distribution line for West Central Electric Cooperative was cut.
Fort Pierre Public Works director Rick Hahn says a grain auger being moved near Sale Barn Road and hit the line.
Fort Pierre has its own power generation station which should have turned on, but Hahn says there was a glitch.
With another hot day in store tomorrow, Fort Pierre residents are encouraged to be mindful of power usage so as not to overload the system.
