WINNER – A late-season struggle cost the Stanley County Buffaloes their 2021 season in volleyball.
That struggle culminated in a first-round upset win by Dupree in the Region 6A tournament Tuesday 26-24, 16-25, 25-23, 25-19 at the Winner Armory.
Stanley County (12-14) dropped six of their last seven matches.
The Buffaloes had a 20-11 lead in the first set before Dupree’s Chloe Dupree had a kill and three aces combined with Rylin Rosseau’s three kills in a 12-3 run that gave the Tigers (6-15) a 23-22 lead. SC tied the set at 24 before Taylee Jewett closed out the set with a kill and solo block.
Carlie O’Conner had five kills in the second set to help even the match, but Dupree was the better team in the last two sets with good serving and attack, while Stanley County kept committing errors, ending with 33 hitting errors.
Chloe Dupree had 10 kills, three aces and two solo blocks for Dupree. Rosseau had nine kills.
O’Conner led Stanley County with 10 kills and three aces. Jordyn Sosa had eight.kills.
