Man sentenced for using false identity to buy guns at a Pierre business
A 52 year old man from Dent, Minnesota, convicted of Possession of Firearm by a Prohibited Person has received his punishment from a federal court judge.
Stacy Hansen was sentenced to two months in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release, to include eight months of home confinement, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The conviction stems from an incident on January 24, 2020, when Hansen and Elissa Shultz, who lived in the same residence, entered an outdoor store in Pierre, and filled out ATF forms using Shultz’s information. By using Schultz’s information, Hansen was able to purchase three firearms from the store. However, Hansen cannot legally purchase or possess firearms due to a prior felony conviction. A search warrant was executed on Hansen’s residence and business in August 2020, where multiple firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were seized. Schultz was sentenced October 5, 2021, to 18 months probation for her involvement.
