At Tuesday’s meeting, the Mobridge City Council voted to revoke a resident’s building permit for non-compliance on November 20th if the curb and gutter project is not completed by November 16th. Mayor Gene Cox also said that at the next meeting he would like to present an ordinance to deal with similar issues, treating them nuisances. The City would then abate the nuisance, put in the curb and gutter, and assess the costs back on the taxes of the resident’s bill.
Council approved advertising for bids for a screw pump project for the waste water treatment plant. City Finance Officer Heather Beck said the pumps need to be replaced.
Council also approved an application for FEMA funding for the water plant intake project. Beck said this is a big project.
Also at the meeting, public hearings were held and approvals were given for several temporary and brown bag liquor licenses; and 2022 liquor licenses were all approved.
Pay Request Number 3 to B & B Contracting in the amount of $64, 304.91 for the airport project was approved, with the project itself almost complete.
Council approved the FAA pre-application for the jet fuel tank project at the airport, and Finance Officer Beck explained the project.
The medical cannabis dispensary application was approved. Beck said both the city attorney and the appointed committee have reviewed and okayed the application as adequate.
Mayor Cox read a letter from the office of Governor Kristi Noem recommending the city’s application for land and water conservation fund grant assistance to the National Park Service for improvements to the Legion Memorial Park, including Pickle Ball, basketball courts, and playground equipment.
