VERMILLION – All season, the Harrisburg Tigers were determined to prove that they were the best team in 11AAA football. Saturday, they made Brandon Valley know it without doubt.
Harrisburg avenged last year’s title game loss with a 27-0 win over Brandon Valley, the Tigers’ first state championship since 1999 and a win that broke Harrisburg’s five-game losing streak in state finals.
Quarterback Jacob Knuth, a commit to Minnesota who was playing his final game for Harrisburg (12-0), had two keepers for rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown to Andrew Walter. Gavin Ross rushed for a touchdown and 224 yards on 24 carries, outgaining the Lynx by himself. Brandon Valley (10-2) was held to only 182 yards of offense.
Knuth rushed for 53 yards and passed for 80.
Ayden Viox led Harrisburg with eight tackles.
Jordan Johnson rushed for 89 yards for Brandon Valley.
