South Dakota No Till Association preregistration deadline is today

Today (Feb. 4, 2022) is the preregistration deadline for the South Dakota No Till Association’s annual soil health/no till educational event being held next week (Feb. 10) in Mitchell.

Organizer Ruth Beck says the meeting has been popular with both ag producers and industry members. She says the Mitchell Soil Health day starts with registration at 9:30am CST at the Highland Conference Center (2000 Highland Way). The program runs from 10am-3:30pm.

The speaker lineup includes:

  • South Dakota Climatologist, Laura Edwards. She will share the current weather outlook and discuss trends for the North Central US.

  • Dr. Joe Ikley, NDSU Extension Weed Specialist. He will share his insight into the “War on Weeds” with a focus on no till practices.

  • Dr. Mike Lehman, Soil Microbiologist with the USDA-ARS in Brookings, will share results of current research and shed light on how soil microbes respond to management practices.

  • Pete Johnson from Realagriculture.com in Ontario, Canada. He spent 30 years with the extension service in Ontario prior to starting his own consulting business. He hails from a corn-soybean area and has worked with farmers to incorporate diversity, and soil conservation practices into their operations. He is a farmer himself and uses the practices he talks about on his own farm.

The day includes lunch and a trade show.

There is no cost to attend but preregistration is appreciated in order to have an accurate meal count. Please include the name of each attendee. To preregister, people can:
