ABERDEEN – Joe Sayler shook off the disappointment of a tough semifinal loss the day before and scored 37 points Saturday to help White River defeat Potter County 83-74 to take third place in the SDHSAA Class B Boys Tournament at the Barnett Center.
Sayler was 10-of-20 shooting, hit two three-pointers and made 15-of-16 free throws.
Dylan Marshall wasn’t far from a triple-double for White River (21-3) with 18 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds. Gavin Folkers hit three three-pointers and scored 13 points. The Tigers shot 51% from the field.
Grant Luikens scored 31 points in his last game for Potter County (23-3). He hit three three-pointers and had nine rebounds. Cooper Logan scored 16 and Drake Bassett had 15.
There were 10 lead changes, but the Tigers held off the Battlers by scoring 28 in the fourth quarter, including 11 by Sayler.
