SARASOTA, FL – Offense happened, but pitching was generally poor Monday for the Twins in a 10-8 spring training loss to Baltimore at Ed Smith Stadium.
Veteran Chi Chi Gonzalez, formerly of the Rockies and Rangers and trying to make the Twins with a minor league deal, gave up five runs in an inning and a third, allowing four hits and three walks with one strikeout.
Caleb Thielbar made his first spring training appearance and pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.
Minor-leaguers Austin Martin and Matt Wallner homered for the Twins (1-4).
Minnesota will meet Atlanta Tuesday at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers.
