Former South Dakota women’s basketball standout Hannah Sjerven was waived Tuesday by the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx.
Sjerven, a native of the Minneapolis suburb Rogers, was chosen by the Lynx 28th overall last month in the WNBA Draft, the first time a Coyote player had been selected. Sjerven appeared in two preseason games for the Lynx averaging six points and five rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game.
Sjerven was the 2021 Summit League Player of the Year for USD, the 2019 Sixth Player of the Year in the conference, and a three-time Summit League Defensive Player of the Year.
