The Custer County Sheriff’s Office says a black bear had been sighted in the Custer area. In a Facebook post today (June 13, 2022), they shared a photo of the bruin to confirm it.
Officials say they were contacted at 11:35am MT about a possible bear sighting in the Hazelrodt Cutoff and Sidney Park road area. Law enforcement responded and snapped some pictures of the bear. The bear has ear tags and the Game, Fish, & Parks has also been notified.
Residents are urged to be cautious and give the bear some space. They predict it will move out of the area.
