JULY 1, 2022:
A 55-year-old woman from Winner has been identified as the person who died Sunday morning (June 26, 2022) in a two-vehicle crash in Gregory County.
Four people in a different vehicle were injured in the accident that happened about 2:45am on US Highway 18 three miles east of the town of St. Charles.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates both vehicles were westbound on US Highway 18, when Susan Bell did a U-turn with her 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. It collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by 42 year old Norman Chasing Hawk III of Winner. Bell was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chasing Hawk III, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending against him.
31 year old Christian Old Lodge from Ideal received serious, non-life threatening injuries. 34 year old Jessica Jensen from Winner and 33 year old William Foote received minor injuries. Both Old Lodge and Jensen were airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital.

JUNE 27, 2022:
A 55 year old woman is dead and four others were injured around 2:45 yesterday morning (June 26, 2022) in a crash on US Highway 18 three miles east of the town of St. Charles in Gregory County.
Names of the five people involved are not yet being released.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates both vehicles were westbound on US Highway 18. The 55-year-old female driver of a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado did a U-turn and collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. The driver of the 2011 Chevrolet pickup was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 42-year-old male driver of the 2008 Chevrolet pickup, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending against him. A 31 year old female passenger received serious, non-life threatening injuries. A 34 year old female passenger and a 33 year old male passenger received minor injuries. Both females were airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital.
