WATERTOWN – Carson Stoeser hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh Friday to give the Pierre 16U team an 8-7 10-inning win over Harrisburg Gold in the state tournament at the Foundation Fields complex. Pierre is now 2-0 in pool play.
Luke Miller, the placed runner on second, advanced to third on a wild pitch before Stoeser’s winning hit.
Down 6-4, Pierre tied the game with two runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles by Ridge Leimbach and JJ Bucholz.
Stoeser and Leimbach each had three hits and two RBI. Charlie Simpson also drove in two runs. Bucholz struck out eight in five and two-thirds innings of relief for the win.
