AUGUST 19, 2022:
An attempted murder charge has been dismissed against a Watertown man arrested in Yankton last month (July 2022).
39 year old Collin Franzky was arrested following an incident in Yankton and charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Possession of a Weapon with Intent to Commit a Felony, Commission of a Felony While Armed, Obstructing a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Lane Driving and 2nd Degree Vandalism.
Franzky was held on a $750,000 bond following the incident. However, according to court documents, the felony counts against Franzky have been dropped by prosecuting attorney Tyler Larsen. The Yankton County State’s Attorney Office has not commented on the dropped charges.
JULY 2022:
A Watertown man is charged with murder and weapons charges after an incident over the weekend in Yankton.
The Yankton Police Department, in conjunction with the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Collin P. Franzky Saturday (July 23, 2022) for Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Possession of a Weapon with Intent to Commit a Felony, Commission of a Felony While Armed, Obstructing a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.
In a news release, Yankton Police Chief Jason Foote says the investigation is ongoing and Franzky remains in the Yankton County Jail with a $750,000.00 cash only bond. He says it’s an ongoing investigation so no other details will be released at this time.
The state Division of Criminal Investigation is also assisting in this investigation.
