SIOUX CENTER, IA – Andrew Coughlin scored a three-goal hat trick with two assists Sunday in the Oahe Capital boys’ 8-3 win over the Sioux Center Storm at Vernon Arena to complete a two-game sweep.
Coughlin scored at 5:22 in the first period to tie the game at 1-1, then tallied at 6:24 of the second period to give the Capitals a 2-1 lead. After a Tegan Doelman power play goal for Sioux Center tied the game at 2-2 at 9:10 of the second period, Jarron Beck scored just 27 seconds later to give the Capitals the lead. Keller Herman and Andre Carbonneau scored later in the second period. Aidan Dozark and Barret Schweitzer scored early in the third period for the Capitals (5-1) before Coughlin completed his hat trick with 2:40 remaining.
Oahe had a 63-11 advantage in shots on goal. A frustrated Sioux Center team took 40 minutes in penalties and the Capitals had 20.
