PIERRE – Just remember, oral commitments are non-binding.
Lincoln Kienholz knows that, also. And so did those urging him to attend a Big Ten school.
On Wednesday, Kienholz, the T.F. Riggs High School senior and the Pierre Governors’ and South Dakota’s all-time leading passer, announced on social media that he has decommitted from the University of Washington and is instead committed to Ohio State University.
Kienholz reportedly made his visit to Ohio State on Thanksgiving weekend, when the Buckeyes lost at home to Michigan.
Kienholz originally committed to Washington in June.
Kienholz was on four 11AA state championship teams with the Governors and was the starting quarterback for titles in 2020, 2021 and 2022. He passed for 9,100 yards and 104 touchdowns, rushed for 3,502 yards and 46 touchdowns and earned Joe Robbie Most Valuable Player honors in the state championship game for all three of those years.
After long talks and consideration, I and very blessed with this opportunity. Thank you to @CoreyDennis_ and the staff and also everyone that’s been along on this ride. I’m excited to announce I am committing to @OhioStateFB🌰. #GoBuckeyes pic.twitter.com/OpO2ghcYIw
