An alarm alerted a TSA security officer in a luggage screening room at JFK International Airport in New York City during the busy pre-Christmas travel rush. The only odd item reported in the suspicious bag: two jars of Jif peanut butter. But it was more than peanut butter: the passenger attempted to conceal a plastic-wrapped .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol in the jars, buried in the peanut butter, and its magazine was loaded. Police tracked the passenger down in the terminal and arrested him.
