North Dakota woman charged in baby’s death at daycare

CARRINGTON, N.D. (AP) — A 48-year-old North Dakota woman is charged with murder after a 5-month-old boy died at an unlicensed daycare she ran. The Foster County State Attorney’s office announced Monday (Jan. 30, 2023) that Patricia Wick was arrested and charged with murder, child abuse involving another child and operating a daycare without a license. Carrington emergency responders found the baby unresponsive at the daycare at Wick’s home on Sept. 26, 2022. He died at a hospital of his injuries. During the investigation, officials learned a 6-year-old child had broken his arm earlier in September at Wick’s daycare. Wick represented herself when she made her first court appearance Monday.
