The Walworth County Commission held a regular meeting on Tuesday, February 7th.
The commissioners listened to some residents talk in opposition to a solar farm that has been proposed to be built near New Evarts. They spoke about the negative impact, not only to the land, but also to humans and wildlife in the area. Commission Chairman Jim Houck said the Zoning Committee will look into writing ordinances, which would then be brought to the Zoning Board. If approved by the board, two public hearings would then be held for county residents to make comments.
The commissioners also presided over a county land lease auction during Tuesday’s meeting.
Jason Hill with the South Dakota Department of Legislative Audit told the commissioners that they will soon begin the 2021 audit for Walworth County.
