Industrial hemp grown in open areas in South Dakota in 2022 totaled 2,800 acres, up 51% from 2021, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Industrial hemp harvested in open areas totaled 2,550 acres, up 50% from last year.
Industrial hemp grown in open areas in North Dakota in 2022 totaled 760 acres, down 16% from 2021. Industrial hemp harvested in open areas totaled 670 acres, down 13% from last year. Industrial hemp grown under protection totaled 700 square feet.
