The dream of Tucker Kraft has been realized.
Kraft, the Timber Lake native who helped lead South Dakota State to the 2022 FCS National Championship, was chosen in the third round of the NFL Draft on Friday by the Green Bay Packers as the draft’s 78th overall selection.
Kraft decided to forego his senior season with the Jackrabbits when he learned that he was projected to be an early- or mid-round selection.
An ankle injury forced Kraft to miss the first six games of 2022, but he still had 27 catches in the nine games he played for 348 yards and three touchdowns. In 2021, Kraft had 65 catches for 773 yards and six touchdowns.
He could be useful to the Packers in various ways. They could use him as a tight end or even an H-back, and he has already expressed that he would be willing to play on special teams.
