Teams from Pierre took the first, second and third place spots in the First Annual Lake Sharpe Showdown Fishing Tournament over the weekend (April 29–30, 2023) in Pierre.
The top three teams of the tournament were:

1st Place: Scott Gregg & Shane Ellwein of Pierre, SD, total weight 21.26 pounds and won $8,000.

2nd Place: Chris Haines & Ben Brown of Pierre, SD, total weight 20.46 pounds and won $4,500.

3rd Place: Harry Decker & Dalton Decker of Pierre, SD, total weight 20.28 pounds and won $2,500.

The tournament organized by the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce and The Fishing Crew. A full listing of the tournament results can be found on The Fishing Crew’s website.
Chamber CEO Tia Kafka says 46 teams registered to compete and cash prizes totaling over $20,000 were awarded to the top 10 teams with the highest combined weights from Saturday’s and Sunday’s catches.
APRIL 28, 2023:
The First Annual Lake Sharpe Showdown Fishing Tournament is this weekend (April 29–30, 2023) in Pierre.
Prizes will be based on the most weight of walleyes, sauger or saugeye caught in the tournament. Boats will launch from Downs Marina. Weigh-ins will be held at the Steamboat Park Amphitheater. The public is invited to attend.
The tournament is being put on by the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce and The Fishing Crew.
NOVEMBER 29, 2022:
The First Annual Lake Sharpe Showdown Fishing Tournament will be held April 28–30, 2023, at Pierre and Fort Pierre.
The tournament is limited to a total of 80, two-person teams. Online registration opens Jan. 1, 2023, at www.thefishingcrew.com.
Chamber CEO Tia Kafka says they’re excited to be able to bring a local fishing tournament to the area. She says partnering with Curt Underhill and his team at The Fishing Crew is certain to make it a fantastic tournament.
