South Dakota law enforcement officers honor their fallen during memorial wreath laying and church service today in Pierre

In honor of National Law Enforcement Memorial Week, a wreath laying ceremony was held this morning (May 10, 2023) at the Law Enforcement Memorial at Capitol Lake in Pierre.

South Dakota Highway Patrol Col. Rick Miller reflected on why the ceremony is held each year.

Miller says it’s not only the law enforcement officers that make sacrifices for their chosen careers.

A memorial church service was also held this morning in Pierre.
