Several school administrators in central South Dakota were honored by their colleagues during a professional development conference this week (June 12-14, 2023) in Deadwood.
The South Dakota Elementary Principals’ Association and the South Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals recognized recipients and finalists for the Principals of the Year and Principals of Excellence awards.
Among those from the center of the state receiving accolades was:
- Danae Paxton, Timber Lake. 3 nominations– SDAESP Innovator of the Year, Community Leader and Curriculum Leader of the Year.
- Tara White, Agar-Blunt-Onida School District. Nominee– SDAESP Rookie of the Year
- Patrick Purdy, Chamberlain School District. Nominee– SDAESP Rookie of the Year
- Emily Smith, Lyman School District. Nominee– SDAESP Rookie of the Year
- Rob Coverdale, Pierre. Nominee– Regional Assistant Principals of the Year
