PIERRE – So often, the Oahe Zap have fallen behind early in games this season. Friday, the Zap were the ones who grabbed an early advantage, then held on.
Oahe had a 10-0 lead through three innings, then outlasted the Spearfish Sasquatch 15-13 at Hyde Stadium to stop a five-game losing streak.
Jared Heck hit a two-run home run in a four-run first inning and had four hits and four RBI. Jacob Trusner also drove in four runs and had four hits. Trenton Duchscherer went four-for-fout and drove in two runs for the Zap (4-20).
Gavin Starcher, despite giving up 11 runs in six innings, earned the win. Brady Glenn pitched the ninth inning for the save.
