PIERRE – A late rally ended Monday well for Post 8.
The Eights scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally for a 5-4 win over Huron in the second game of a doubleheader at Hyde Stadium. Huron won the opener, 17-7.
Game 1 – Huron 17, Post 8 7
Huron broke a 5-5 tie with three runs in the fourth inning, then pulled away with nine runs in the sixth.
Carter Sanderson drove in two runs for Post 8. Matthew Hanson and Jonny Lyons each had two hits.
Game 2 – Post 8 5, Huron 4
Post 8 (5-20) scored two in the second before Huron rallied for three in the fifth inning and another in the sixth.
Post 8’s rally in the bottom of the sixth saw the runs score after two outs. Jett Zabel cut Huron’s lead to 4-3 with an RBI single, then Lyons reached on an error that allowed the tying and go-ahead runs to score.
Spencer Easland pitched the last two and two-thirds innings for the victory, striking out four. Starter Ridge Leimbach struck out eight in four and a third innings.
