Fourth of July fireworks sales are legal in South Dakota through July 5, 2023. The final day to legally discharge fireworks is July 9. South Dakota’s Fire Marshal is reminding residents that fireworks safety is always important.
“Each year at this time, we encourage people using fireworks to protect themselves, others and surrounding properties,” said Fire Marshal Paul Merriman. “While abnormally dry conditions continue in many parts of the state, it remains important to discharge fireworks in a responsible way.”
For many, using fireworks is a traditional celebration of Independence Day. However, Merriman warns that if not handled properly, fireworks can also become deadly.
