MITCHELL – The Mitchell Baseball Association decided Wednesday to resume activities for Post 18 varsity baseball.
Those activities were suspended on June 20 in relation to an ongoing investigation by the South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation.
In a statement on Wednesday, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley said: “It is my hope that this work by law enforcement does not unnecessarily interfere with the opportunity for those team members who have worked hard, to continue participation in the baseball program this season. I encourage that it would be done safely and those authorities in charge have in place protections to avoid and ensure that the type of activities alleged do not occur.”
Mitchell Baseball Association president Jason Christensen then announced the resumption of Post 18’s varsity activities. He also told the Mitchell Republic that all baseball activities will have a monitor appointed by the MBA Board of Directors and that parents or guardians will provide transportation. Christensen said that no players have been suspended.
