AUGUST 8, 2023:
A 64 year old man from Sisseton has been identified as the person who died Friday in a single motorcycle crash 23 miles northwest of Midland in Haakon County.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates Jerry Schaunaman was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson west on SD 34 near mile marker 163. He lost control of the motorcycle, entered the south ditch and became separated from the motorcycle.
Schaunaman was taken by ambulance to the Pierre Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. He was not wearing a helmet.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates a 2005 Harley Davidson FLHRCI was traveling west on SD 34 near mile marker 163. The 64-year-old male driver lost control of the motorcycle, entered the south ditch, and became separated from the motorcycle. The driver was taken by ambulance to the Pierre Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver was not wearing a helmet.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
