FORT PIERRE – After a game against Timber Lake filled with drama last season, Stanley County took the suspense away on their way to a convincing win.
Colton Brady rushed for three touchdowns and 164 yards Friday as Stanley County again used its running game and sharp defense to smother Timber Lake 44-7 at Ole Williamson Field.
Stanley County lost in overtime at Timber Lake in 2022.
Brendon Bothwell gave Stanley County (5-1) its first points with just over three minutes left in the first quarter on a 43-yard touchdown run and the Buffaloes led 8-0.
Brady carried in a two-yard score early in the second quarter for a 16-0 SC lead.
After a Barret Schweitzer 27-yard touchdown run with just over three minutes left in the first half, Stanley County led 22-0 at halftime.
Brady rumbled for a 50-yard touchdown two minutes into the third quarter and helped increase the Stanley County lead to 30-0.
The next possession for Timber Lake (4-3) ended with Stanley County’s Case Kolda blocking a punt and Schweitzer recovering it in the end zone for a touchdown.
Brady scored again from two yards in the last minute of the third quarter and SC led 44-0.
Timber Lake broke the shutout with a 55-yard touchdown pass from Kanton Hunt to Aidan Rough Surface with just over three and a half minutes remaining.
Stanley County rushed for 281 yards, while the Buffalo defense limited Timber Lake to just 31 yards on the ground. Timber Lake quarterback Gracen Hansen, who entered the game with 1,000 yards rushing, was held to 36 yards on 17 carries.
Gavin Farlee had 11 receptions for 122 yards for the Panthers.
