OCTOBER 27, 2023:
The outside westbound lane of Wells Avenue in Pierre between Adams and Madison Avenues will close on Monday (Oct. 30, 2023) while a contractor rehabilitates a stretch of sewer line in the area. Additionally, the intersections of Wells Avenue at Adams, Jefferson and Madison Avenues, will also be closed.
The rehabilitation work is part of a bid approved earlier this month by the Pierre City Commission to reline more than eight blocks of deteriorating underground sewer line.
The closures are expected to remain in place through Friday (Nov. 3).
OCTOBER 11, 2023:
The Pierre City Commission has approved a bid to repair about eight blocks of underground sewer line.
Nick Waters, City Engineer, says the contractor will line the current pipes with a cured-in-place pipe that essentially replaces the old pipe without disrupting above ground activity. He says this process is quicker and less invasive than a traditional replacement process.
The lining process will be used on sanitary and storm sewer lines in various areas throughout the community. Mobilization will start as early as next week; weather permitting, the work will be complete by mid-November.
Mocon Pacific, Inc. received the bid for the $317,560 project.
