South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem delivered her budget proposal for the remainder of fiscal year 2024 and all of fiscal year 2025 to a joint session of the state legislature Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 5, 2023).
The Governor’s budget proposal includes a 4% increase for “the big three”– education, state employees and healthcare providers.
South Dakota State Employees Organization Executive Director Eric Olilla says he appreciates seeing that much of a proposed increase.
Ollila says the Governor also addressed some employee benefits.
Ollila appreciates the Governor recognizing the value of state employees.
South Dakota lawmakers will consider Governor Noem’s budget during the 2024 legislative session, which begins Jan. 9, 2024.
