JANUARY 4, 2024:
District 24 Representative Mike Weisgram of Fort Pierre wants to serve another two-year term.
He says he understands the importance of the work lawmakers do.
South Dakota’s 99th annual legislative session begins Tuesday (Jan. 9, 2023). Weisgram will again chair the House Commerce and Energy Committee and expects to be busy from the start.
He says at the end, putting together a balanced budget for the state is at the heart of what legislators do.
Weisgram is also the vice-chair of the Retirement Laws Committee and is a member of the Health and Human Services Committee. He encourages constituents to reach out to him about any legislation that peaks their interest.
Weisgram is finishing his second term in the House. He joins fellow District 24 republicans Representative and House Majority Leader Will Mortenson of Fort Pierre and Senator Jim Mehlhaff of Pierre who are also seeking reelection.

DECEMBER 21, 2023:
Representative Mike Weisgram of Fort Pierre has officially announced his intent to seek re-election for one of District 24’s two spots in the South Dakota House of Representatives.
Weisgram is finishing his second term in the House. He joins fellow republican Representative and House Majority Leader Will Mortenson of Fort Pierre who is also seeking reelection.
Weisgram currently chairs the House Commerce and Energy Committee, is vice-chair of the Retirement Laws Committee and is a member of the Health and Human Services Committee.
Weisgram has been a small business owner and currently serves as the chair of the Governing Board of Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre.
District 24 Senator Jim Melhlaff, who is in his first term, intends to seek reelection, but has not yet made the official announcement.
District 24 includes Haakon Hughes, Hyde, Stanley and Sully counties.
