LINCOLN, Neb. – Chamberlain sophomore Nash Hutmacher made his wrestling debut for the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday and notched two pins for the Cornhuskers in the heavyweight division. The Huskers rolled Wyoming 44-3, and then turned around and defeated Northern Iowa 18-17. Hutmacher, a starting Defensive Tackle for the Husker football team, is a former four-time South Dakota High School state wrestling champion for the Chamberlain Cubs and went 2-0 on Saturday. Hutmacher is down to 285 pounds but said he has the full support of Football Head Coach Matt Rhule and will be back to a better-playing weight for football season. Hutmacher said he loves the fact he can compete in both sports and thinks the extra work can only help him dominate even more on the football field in 2024.
