Americans decorate and eat a lot of eggs during the Easter season.
Marc Dresner, Director of Integrated Communications for the American Egg Board says just how many eggs might surprise you.
As with many things, Dresner says there are trends in egg decorating.
Dresner says the color of an egg shell is determined by one particular part of a chicken’s body.
Dresner says you may need to be a bit more creative, but brown eggs can also be dyed or decorated.
Dresner says fresh eggs are harder to peel than ones that are a week or so old.
If people eat their decorated eggs, Dresner says it’s typically in the form of egg salad or deviled eggs.
Uncoincidentally, the week after Easter is…. National Egg Salad Week.
