Fire on outside of home quickly extinguished by Pierre Volunteer firefighters

No one was injured, but the siding of a home in the 500 block of North Highland Avenue in Pierre was damaged in a fire about mid-morning today (May 14, 2024).

Assistant Fire Chief Brandon McCarthy says the structure fire was near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Seneca Street.

As with most fires, quick response is key in minimizing damage. McCarthy says Pierre’s volunteer firefighters couldn’t do that without the support of their employers.
