State USBC Bowling Tournaments have recently wrapped up and several Pierre area bowlers have claimed first place honors in both the youth and adult ranks.
The State Youth Tournament was held in Rapid City during the four weekends of April and a Pierre team consisting of Morgan Potter, Hailee Longbrake, Courtney Potter and Emily Kringel came out on top in the Division 4 ranks with a total handicap score of 2899. Kringel was also the top girls Singles bowler in the division with a 745, and the All Events champion with a scratch composite of 1946 over nine games and a handicap total of 2216.
Ben Fierro also had a great tournament, winning the Division 3 All Events with a 1565 scratch and 2384 handicap. He also teamed with Bryson Wallman to capture the D-3 Doubles title with an even 1500.
Reagan Penrose captured the Division 1 scratch All Events crown with a 1272 while also placing second in handicap All Events, and Drew Bowman topped the boys Division 4 Singles event with an 834.
At the adult State Open Tournament in Mitchell, the Morris Inc. #1 team of Pierre totaled 2780 to win the lower division Team event. Team members include Justin Berheim, Jerry Mikkelsen, Nate Mikkelsen and Bill Regynski.
And finally, a Sioux Falls team sponsored by All-Around Graphix of Pierre won the upper division and scratch team championship with a 2788 total. Team members Will Knox, Chase Campbell, Robert Hardwick and Kalen Moodie are all Pierre natives.
All state bowling champions will be able to receive their awards at a banquet during the State Bowling Jamboree, which will be held in Rapid City June 8, 2024.
