MOBRIDGE, S.D. — Athletes from all pockets of the state ascended to north central South Dakota for Friday’s (May 17, 2024) Last Chance Meet.
In the boys standings, Mobridge-Pollock racked up 139 points. Lemmon (59) and Dupree (50) finished second and third, respectively. In the girls standings, Herreid/Selby Area posted 99 points. Lemmon (86) and Mobridge-Pollock (82) placed second and third, respectively. Highlights from schools in central South Dakota are as follows:
In boys action, Mobridge-Pollock’s Andrew Fulkerson won the 100-meter dash (:11.73) and the 200-meter dash (:24.21). Fulkerson also ran on the winning 400-meter relay (:45.09).
Mobridge-Pollock’s Simon Fried won the 300-meter hurdles (:42.03) and was on the winning 400-meter relay. Mobridge-Pollock’s Carter Hinsz won the shot put (46-7). The Mobridge-Pollock boys also won the 3,200-meter relay (8:35.59).
Herreid/Selby Area’s Gavin Hirsch won the 1,600-meter run (5:00.31).
Stanley County’s Barret Schweitzer won the javelin (146-8) and teammate Paxton Deal won the long jump (20-3.5).
In girls action, Herreid/Selby Area’s Breanna Jochim won the 100-meter dash (:13.22), the long jump (16-6.5) and was on the winning 800-meter relay (1:50.61). HSA’s Mya Ebel won the discus with a heave of 116-2.
Mobridge-Pollock’s Ryli Thompson won the 200-meter dash (:27.14) and ran on the winning 400-meter relay (:51.54) and sprint medley relay (4:19.83).
Stanley County’s Brianna Sargent won the 400-meter dash (1:03.96) and Highmore-Harrold’s Autumn Fallis won the 800-meter run (2:29.31).
