The completion of a two-year construction project on US Highway 18 and State Highway 44 at Winner was celebrated Friday (May 17, 2024) by state and local officials.
Doug Sherman is the Winner Area Engineer for the South Dakota Department of Transportation. He said the project was more than 10 years in the making.
Winner Mayor Brad Schramm said much of the main material needed for the roads was made right there in Winner.
Total cost for the project was $34.4-million. $2.4 million of that was spent by the town of Winner to install new water and sewer infrastructure under the new roadway.
